AZZ Valencia Congress Hotel & Spa

We came to Valencia for the Hyrox event and stayed at the AZZ Valencia Congress Hotel & Spa. The lack of comfort and poor service made the stay disappointing from beginning to end. There was no tea or coffee in the room, so we had to go down to the lobby for a drink. A tiny paper cup of coffee cost £2.50, and we had to carry it all the way back upstairs. The air conditioning barely cooled the room, even after we tried changing the settings. The hand wash, shower gel, and conditioner were nearly empty when we arrived and weren’t refilled. The reception team didn’t seem particularly friendly during our interactions. After Hyrox, we waited about 10 minutes at the bar while staff at reception could see us but didn’t help. When my partner asked, he was told the bar didn’t open until 7PM. On Saturday night, a private birthday party with a DJ outside was so loud that the music carried through the building. We couldn’t hear the TV, and there was no chance to rest after the competition. Early Monday morning, cleaners woke us by vacuuming, slamming doors, dragging furniture, and talking loudly in the corridor. The hotel missed the mark on basic hospitality, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone visiting Valencia.

Sarai, the event manager, is the best. We’ve worked with lots of venues, and she really cares about you and your event, going out of her way to make things happen. The rooms were clean and the atmosphere was good. A perfect hotel for events, highly recommended.

It feels like this hotel could be great, but it was a strange stay and sadly fell short. The food at dinner was awful, and there are no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms. The bar was rarely staffed, so getting a drink was hit and miss. Staff were surly and spoke very little English, which led to plenty of miscommunication. It’s also miles from the city centre, in a run-down area.

I felt welcome from the start. The staff were so kind and hospitable, and paid attention to every detail. It was a warm, relaxing atmosphere, and I’ll definitely come back. 🌸
