Breakfast was generous and varied, with fresh orange juice, sliced meats and cheese, and a great choice of pastries and cakes. At €6, I’d say it was underpriced, honestly. Our room, number 2, had a little enclosed balcony with a sea view, perfect for reading or relaxing. The bed was comfortable, and the heating controls made the room very cosy. It was full of character, with every detail considered. Such a lovely place, and the hosts were welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend.

The breakfast was excellent value and came with the room. This is a beautiful, affordable family-run hotel in lovely Pedrena, away from busy touristy Santander. You can walk to the regular, inexpensive ferry across the bay, or take the longer but doable walk over the bridge to Somo. Highly recommended. One thing to plan for: there aren’t many places to eat out or supermarkets nearby. If you don’t have transport, sort out your meals for each day.

Luis was a very accommodating host. The house is clean and neat, with a rustic, classic feel. It’s handy for the bus, ferry, nearby restaurants, and the Camino de Santiago trail. Golf courses are convenient too, but bring your own clubs since rentals aren’t available.
