Hotel Rural Mánsio de la Plata

A quiet, peaceful spot where we slept well, and a really affordable stay if you count access to the swimming pool. The village is worth a look around, though I only came across unpleasant people.

The bedrooms, beds, and bathroom are basic, but clean. The house and grounds are lovely, set in a small village with beautiful scenery, though they could use more upkeep and attention to detail. It feels a bit neglected: broken living room chairs, old wobbly armchairs on the terrace, scattered flowerpots, saws left lying around, and plants that aren't well cared for.

We were 12 people with young children in mid-August, and had a long list of problems. The rooms got very hot without air conditioning, and smelled musty and stale. There was no lockable main entrance, just our room doors, and people came in while we were out several times. With no mosquito nets and the grounds always open, leaving a window open meant insects or people could get in, so we had no privacy. The pool was badly maintained, with broken tiles that were unsafe for kids, no shower, and no lighting. It's also away from the house, down past a stone barrier, so night swimming was difficult. The kitchen was tiny, its utensils quite dirty, and the dishwasher didn't work properly. We were short on basics like toilet paper, garbage bags, and dish soap. Some showers didn't work or had low pressure. There weren't any comfortable tables or chairs for the patio or to take outside, and around the property was poorly kept, with weeds, brambles, and an abandoned car.

The location is really good, and the kids can use the football field next door. The rooms are lovely. It would be nice if they fixed up the outside and added a decent barbecue.
