Felipe II

The chef deserves a special mention, breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all very tasty. Reception was warm and friendly, and we had a lovely room facing the sea. Housekeeping did a good job. The pillows, though, were really uncomfortable.

The food was good and the decor was nice, so at first the place seemed perfect. But the staff were unfriendly and the way we were treated spoiled the day. Calling it discrimination may be too strong for what happened to me, but that’s how it felt. We’d booked ahead as a group. At the restaurant, staff stopped us from entering through the front door and directed us outside to an entrance at the back. After our meal, when we came to leave by the front, we were stopped again and told to go out the same way we’d come in. Why weren’t we allowed to use the main door? It would have helped to know about this beforehand. It felt like some new kind of racial segregation.

For a single night, it was perfectly fine: clean, with a comfortable bed and a good spot just across the road from the sea. The whole hotel did have artificial fragrances, though.

The Felipe is right by the beach and close to the bus stop, and the price was great for the stay. It’s clean and respectable, with friendly, helpful staff. I’d recommend it for a few days. I’ve stayed in 3-4 star hotels that weren’t as nice.
