Zarey Hostel

Parking was easy, with cars constantly coming and going. The shared kitchen is a great feature, and the cleanliness was 10/10. They were attentive and friendly, always checking whether we needed anything. It’s right by Santa Cristina beach, with restaurants, a supermarket, bars, a bowling alley, and lots more nearby. Really, really good value for money.

It’s a hostel with no reception. You get a code for the rooms, plus a key in case the code fails and to enter from the street. There are shared areas and a kitchen with a shared fridge where you can prepare what you need. The space used as a “wardrobe” could do with a few hangers.

It’s hard to rest here because the walls are paper-thin. You hear everything from upstairs and next door, including someone using the bathroom, their alarm, and the constant noise above. The doors don’t fit their frames properly and bang loudly in a draft, as in the video. One bedroom’s bathroom has no door, just a see-through curtain, which isn’t shown in the website photos.

The photos and the real place are like apples and oranges. It feels more like a mediocre guesthouse than a hotel. Everything is very old, the hallway carpets are filthy, and both the room and bathroom are outside the hotel. The bathroom water was always scalding, never cold. The bed was mediocre and creaked whenever I moved. I hate leaving bad reviews, but being ripped off is worse.
