Espanhouse Tekla Villa

We got back only a third of the €500 deposit. The house was left fairly clean, apart from a small accident with a glass vase that costs €20 at the dollar store, but there were other charges as well as an exorbitant electricity bill. It feels like they want to make money at any cost, perhaps trying to recoup losses from the Covid-19 situation by taking advantage of tenants who fell into their trap. The house itself is very nice and has state-of-the-art appliances, but they don’t work properly. The living room air conditioning is disabled and only cools on the lowest setting. Pool maintenance workers show up whenever they feel like it, and there’s no privacy with all the cameras. You don’t know if you’re on Big Brother or on vacation.

We paid €1500, but apparently that wasn’t enough to cover the house bills. They kept our deposit, saying we’d used too much electricity and air conditioning during the hottest week of summer. The Booking.com reservation never mentioned extra charges for excessive use. The owner won’t respond. Booking.com agreed with us, and we’ll file a complaint with the consumer protection agency. A complete rip-off. The pool had way too much chlorine, I broke out in a rash all over, and we all came back with green hair. Workers also turned up every day without warning, knocking, or masks, and we’d just find them there. We’d specifically asked for the jacuzzi to be working, but it wasn’t; they planned to fix it near the end of our week. The worst part was how they treated us. The house is nice, but the location is awful, and that’s the least of it. I absolutely don’t recommend this place.

Way too much chlorine in the pool, terrible service and no privacy at all. Awful experience, run away!
