Hostal Toledano-Victoria

The room was clean enough and the bed was comfortable, though the rest was very basic for the price: a torn curtain, no TV or air conditioning, a broken light, and a tap hanging off its hinges. The service wasn't great and breakfast was very poor. We also didn't feel comfortable in the area, especially at night. I won't be coming back.

If I'd read the reviews first, I wouldn't have booked. I've stayed in hotels, hostels, albergues and rural houses all over Spain, but this was my first and last time at this hostel. The room was mediocre, with no TV and a lot of noise from music and other sounds. There was only one towel even though the room was for two, and the beds weren't great either. Breakfast starts at 9, and after 23:30 you can't get in or out. This is my first time leaving a review, and I'd give it less than one star if I could.

Breakfast was included, but only when it suited the hostel. They don't seem to get up early, with breakfast between 9 and 11, so if you leave before that, there's hardly anyone around and you miss it. They also require you to leave your keys at reception, and none of this came with a receipt. The showerhead was propped up with a plastic bag, though it did stay put. The hot water control didn't work, so a shower meant either no water or cold water. The old-looking TV was tied to its stand with string and had no antenna cable, so it was useless. There were no towels in the room either. I called three times before anyone answered, and the response was sarcastic before they hung up.

I booked a room, but spent the whole week before my trip trying to reach the hostel by phone and nobody answered. I was traveling with two small children, so I had to find another hotel. The next day they charged me anyway. I then spent a week trying to get my money back, but they just kept giving me the runaround. Mr. Rodrigo, who was said to be the manager, told me they wouldn't refund me and that he didn't care whether I had called. He said I should just go for it, and told me he couldn't care less what I said or did on social media. The nerve of it is astounding. They neglect customer service, scam and cheat you. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
