Grand Hyatt Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort

We had an amazing stay and will definitely come again. The rooms were large, clean and air-conditioned, with lovely hot, powerful showers. Food was nice, and the nightly entertainment was fantastic. Drinks came with table service, along with mixed nuts. Angelica, who looked after our room, was brilliant, friendly and professional. All the staff were polite and eager to help. Reception gave us a glass of cava when we arrived, which made our wedding anniversary feel special, and our bags were taken up to the rooms so we didn't have to struggle with them.

The beach is just steps away, and the spa is beautiful and really relaxing. We loved the whole stay and would gladly return. There was plenty to do for children and adults, and the recycled glass workshop was a highlight for us. The food was excellent, everything was impeccably clean, and the shows each night were fantastic, especially 4 Beats, Reflection, and the flamenco show. A big thank you to Aisha, Magda & Jessica. The reception team was always welcoming and smiling too, especially Ari, Marta & Luna.

The experience was mixed. The views are amazing, the beach is lovely, and the heated pools are good, so it's a very nice hotel in some ways. I'd suggest bed and breakfast and eating out. The buffet wasn't better than the à la carte, which wasn't worth the price either. The kids' club only runs four hours a day, and the spa didn't feel much like a spa. You also have to pay for the indoor pool, and that payment goes to the spa rather than the hotel. Staff at reception and some in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful, while others seemed not to care. Our room wasn't cleaned one day. The juice was from concentrate, and the pool bar had very poor options, which makes this feel more like a 3/4-star hotel. The towel reserving problem is still there, and there seemed to be no real effort to deal with it. Progress has started and is clearly going in a good direction, but the problems run deep. Unless senior management deals with them, more negative reviews will keep building up. Definitely not the HAYAT standard.

Our two daughters had a wonderful time with the entertainment team during our week here. Big shout out to Zack, who made their holiday. He's full of energy, really helpful and friendly, and goes out of his way to keep the kids happy, which made our family break much more enjoyable. The rooms were clean and modern. I enjoyed breakfast, though the food did get repetitive, as it does in most all-inclusive hotels. We had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back.
