Puerto Chico 7

We only had three weeks here, though we could have spent months relaxing in the immaculately kept gardens and soaking up the sun. This lovely two bedroom bungalow is right on the seafront, with everything needed for self catering and two toilets in separate shower rooms. Step onto the promenade and Flamingo Beach is five minutes to the right, while the shops and restaurants are five minutes to the left. If we get the chance, we’ll come back.

The pool is lovely, and the apartment was clean and well equipped, with a modern bathroom and a great shower. We had a 14 night stay at Puerto Chico 8, a fantastic complex with a secure entry code and great views over playa blanca and the sea. Entry is through apartment 9’s balcony, but that wasn’t an issue as the balcony is private. We booked through white beach holiday, who have an office on the complex. We’d definitely book again.

The Playa Blanca location was great, but that was the only plus for Villa C at Puerto Chico. We paid a lot for this time of year, March 2024, and chose it mostly for where it was. The website photos made it look more appealing than it was, so zoom in on the ones attached from our stay. We arrived at 15:00, the earliest check-in time, but reception was closed. The emailed codes got us into the villa, where it was obvious it had been poorly maintained, with white paint slapped over things to cover problems. It was dirty and dated. The beds had urine stains, the pillow smelled, cupboards were full of someone’s clutter, and the toilet brush was covered in poo. In the bathroom, the bath plug was rusty, the tap didn’t work properly and the shower head was poor. The kitchen had little prep space, no sharp knives, and lots of old stained plastic. Pots and pans were worn out, drawers were dirty, and the small, very old fridge with an ice compartment had a door that wouldn’t shut properly. The welcome pack was long-life milk, cheap water and old tea and coffee sachets. The living room seats were dirty and stained, and there was dust everywhere. The outside door didn’t open fully, the outdoor equipment was dirty and at the end of its life, and the cushions didn’t fit the chairs. You can see the sea if you tiptoe on the wall, but you can see and smell the ferry port. Everything was plastic and fragile from age. The pool looks nice but isn’t practical, with no room to sit around it and no sunbeds, so it’s only useful for a quick dip. Reception was never open when we tried to speak to them, and we couldn’t get through on the contact number. We ended up staying somewhere else and wasted our money. I can’t say what the other villas are like, but until Villa C’s problems are fixed, it’s a no go.
