SOPHIE E.
We booked Villa Monsy 1 through Jet2 Villa Holidays for our family of three, and based on the photos it seemed like a good fit. Finding it was a real muddle at first. We came across the back, recognized the garden from the listing, but there was no way in that direction, and the photos hadn’t shown the front. We parked and walked around before spotting it down a VERY narrow lane that initially didn’t look driveable. We did manage to get down it and park outside Villa Monsy 1, next to the adjoining Villa Monsy 2. Getting in and turning around took a while. Luckily, nobody was staying in the second villa, so we didn’t have to work around another car. Inside, things looked as pictured. The living room was great, with really comfy sofas, and the pool area was fine, though the patio could use some weeding. The kitchen had a modern hob and oven, a small microwave, and a slightly old dishwasher that worked. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery, but no free cupboard for food and no basics such as salt, so bring what you need. The washing machine was outside in a locked storage area and worked fine. Another outdoor cupboard had pegs, firelighters, coal, and matches for the BBQ, as well as a pool inflatable, which was a nice extra. The downstairs shower room was small and dark, with a shower curtain, and it wasn’t great. There was a bad smell in that bathroom all week, so the drains may need fixing. Upstairs, all three bedrooms were fine. We used the double and twin rooms, and there was also a single. The double and twin opened onto a balcony, but the handle on the double room’s shutter door was hanging off. It was too fiddly to open, close, and lock, so we didn’t use it. Neither bathroom had soap, and we weren’t given pool towels, only bath towels. Some bits of the villa are tired, including the bath seals and patches of peeling paint. A little more attention to detail would help. I’d have liked somewhere in the main bedroom to sit while doing my hair and makeup, as there’s room for a dressing table. Hooks and shelves in the bathrooms would also be useful, since there’s nowhere to hang a wet towel or put clothes while showering. Other villas and homes are all around, so you hear family life from time to time. The seafront is about a 20-25 minute walk away, but carrying beach things makes it feel a bit far. We usually drove most of the way, parked near the Cabot hotel, and walked the rest. Puerto Pollensa and Pollensa old town are stunning. The local buses were easy and reliable, with tap on and off using a bank card. I’d return to the area, but choose somewhere else to stay.
