El Paraiso de los Perros

The mountain setting is beautiful, with trails and paths right outside the houses, and we had a wonderful time enjoying it with our children and dogs. We stayed in the larger of the two houses, which share a pool. It was practical and comfortable, with a terraced garden offering several places to sit. The dogs had complete freedom, and our children had lots of fun swimming with them. We did several walks, but there was still more to explore. We'd planned some outings to nearby places, including Guadalest town and reservoir and dog-friendly beaches, but enjoyed the house and walks so much that we ran out of time. We were there in March this year to get away from the Fallas festival, bringing our dogs along. I'd read comments about damaged artificial grass around the pool and unsafe electrical wiring, but during our stay everything was fine. I find the idea behind this accommodation very interesting.

I wouldn't recommend this place if you're hoping for a quiet break with family and your dog. There were 7-8 dogs barking at all hours. The house was dirty and in terrible shape, with broken and expired items. The patio was filthy and cluttered, and I even found thumbtacks on the ground. The pool was full of dog hair, and there seemed to be no maintenance or cleaning, despite a €40 cleaning charge. Dogs can roam freely in the garden and pool, but the mess made us not want to spend time in the house. I attached photos of the dish towels, torn mosquito nets, grass in our patio, expired spices, kitchen dirt, and broken electrical outlets that could be dangerous for dogs.

We found the place dirty and quite overpriced. The “house” felt more like a tool shed turned into accommodation. You also have to drive quite a few kilometers to reach the lovely natural spots and waterfalls, and some of the recommended ones didn't allow pets. We went last year, before there were any negative reviews, so we thought maybe we were the only ones who felt this way. There are better and cheaper places.

The owner is lovely and makes you feel right at home. Her dogs are fantastic, friendly, affectionate, and playful, and came to fetch our dog so they could all run around the property together. We had such a wonderful time enjoying nature with our dog and the family's dogs that we'll definitely return. We missed them so much, and our dog didn't want to leave, staying by the gate.
