The rooms were spotless, and the inn felt really welcoming. We booked about three weeks ahead and were happy with our choice. We’d read all the reviews mentioning Francisco, and the praise was deserved: he looked after us from arrival right through to departure and gave us good suggestions for places to see. We’ll definitely be back.

Francisco, the owner, looked after our family of four like we were his own and suggested places to visit in the areas we were exploring. We’d come from Valencia to spend a few days in Cantabria, and staying at the inn was a great experience. We highly recommend it.

The room was clean, and Francisco was friendly and keen to help with information, but the stay wasn’t what we’d hoped for. We spent three nights in August. The beds weren’t comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, and the room is beside a road through the village. Heat kept us awake the second night because we couldn’t open the windows without letting insects in, as there are no mosquito nets. Noise disturbed us the third night. Breakfast was very basic, just two small pieces of toast and a sponge cake. You have to request it the day before, it’s the same each day, and it’s only served from 9:00 AM. That made it harder to get out sightseeing, and on our last day we had to leave at 8:30 AM, so breakfast wasn’t possible.

The room was fairly clean and Francisco was friendly, but we found the rest of the place disappointing. We chose it because of the good reviews while spending a few days in Cantabria. Our room was very dark, and opening the window wasn’t really an option because there’s a bar directly below. We could hear everything going on there, including the hood, and the smells came in too. We couldn’t sleep until at least 2 a.m. Breakfast was only available at 9 or 9:30, which didn’t work if we wanted to leave early and visit different places. It was ridiculous: you had to ask the day before for toast, and got two cold, hard slices of bread, a sobao, a type of bread, and coffee. On the last day we needed to leave early and told him, but he said he wouldn’t be in the building before 9, that nobody was there during the day or night, and that we had to pay him the day before. Although we’d already paid for breakfast, he didn’t have the courtesy to leave us anything.
