Hotel Alda Estación Pontevedra

The room was huge, with a city view, and the beds were comfortable. There were a few scuffs that could use touching up, but they weren’t a concern. The bathroom was spacious and accessible, with a large shower in a wet room, though its sliding door was very hard to shut and there was no hairdryer. Breakfast had a nice continental selection, and the staff were friendly. The hotel was clean and had a pleasant reception area. It’s modern and a short walk from the centre. My husband and I stayed while walking the Camino from Porto to Santiago de Compostela.

The friendly receptionist was a plus, though the desk isn’t staffed around the clock. The hotel is right across from Pontevedra train station, but it’s a good 15-minute walk to the Casco histórico. Our room felt dated and badly needed refurbishment. The curtains were mouldy, the walls let through a lot of noise, and a broken radiator kept the bathroom at 40°C overnight. With the day already hot, that was very uncomfortable.

The location was good, but the hotel felt a bit grubby and had mould on the curtains. During the heatwave, the broken bathroom radiator kept running at full blast, which wasn’t great. The receptionist was only there until 3pm.

Laura G at reception gave us such a warm welcome. A great hotel, and I’d definitely recommend it.
