Hostel Albergue O Mesón

The cafe next door is excellent, and the staff here are super friendly and helpful. There's not a lot to explore in town apart from the bridge. After a long walk, the hot showers were amazing, and the bunk beds were comfortable, with curtains for a bit of privacy. A great Albergue for pilgrims.

We were just a family passing through by car, so we stood out a little among the Camino de Santiago hikers this simple, nice hostel seems to cater to. Still, it was a great place for us. The rooms were neat and practical, and the restaurant that's sort of attached was good. There's also a shared kitchen area if you want to prepare your own food. You can easily walk to a beach on the river. It gets lively and popular with locals at certain times, and is a great spot for a cooling splash.

We booked the private room with three beds for the two of us, and had a great stay. The owner was helpful and everything was very clean. It's well located, with a local river beach just a five-minute walk away, good for swimming. I did laundry there too. It took about an hour, and the clothes came out smelling fresh. The shared kitchen and living area did feel a little warm, though, and there was no way to open a window and air it out.

On our first day as pilgrims, we arrived exhausted, and the clean, spacious shared kitchen was a huge help for making food before carrying on. The shared rooms were simple and humble, but had a great setup, with doors that gave more privacy. The shower was hot and comfy. There's a small market and a friendly restaurant right next door, which made the tough path ahead easier. The staff were patient and friendly. Maria, the host and receptionist, was especially kind and understanding. They also sell shells and raincoats for 1.50€ each, if you're still missing a shell or need a raincoat like we did. We used ours all five days of the camiño. The neighborhood felt friendly and had a good spirit of the camiño. Nothing felt money greedy.
