Hotel Atalaya I

The terrace looking out over the beach is stunning, and we were very happy with our clean, cozy room, which also had a hairdryer. We booked parking because my partner didn’t want to leave the car on the street, though there is parking nearby. The space is at Atalaya 2, while we stayed at Atalaya 1. They’re about 50 meters apart on the same street, so remember to reserve it. The location is great, with good connections and no need for a car.

The buffet was very good, but if breakfast is included, you have to go down to Atalaya II for it, something that wasn’t mentioned anywhere. It was very hot, and one of the cleaning staff kindly lent us a fan, which helped a lot. The location is excellent, with Baltar beach, bars, and restaurants just a few minutes away on foot. The room was fine and very clean, but much too small for us with a baby, stroller, and the hotel crib, which cost €6/night. There’s an access ramp, but it’s so steep that I couldn’t manage it in flip-flops without help. Parking in the area is terrible. The hotel garage is at Atalaya II, costs €12/day, and is extremely small and cramped. You can only get to it from the street or by stairs.

We were impressed by how immaculate the room was, and the cleaning team deserves a special mention. It looked out over a beautiful, peaceful beach with crystal-clear water, perfect for relaxing. The receptionist was very friendly when we arrived and explained everything in detail. The location is ideal, with public parking usually available nearby, and no need for a car. Portonovo is just a 3-minute walk away, with lots of places for food, drinks, breakfast, and shopping. Fantastic value for money. We’ll definitely return!

The room I arrived to had none of the things promised in the description: 24 square meters, a balcony, and a bathroom with a bathtub and bidet. I’d booked a month and a half ahead. After I complained, they offered a free cancellation. But after driving 500 km, my choices in the middle of August were to put up with it or find somewhere else. They said they couldn’t do anything more, so all I can do is leave this review.
