The host showed up looking heavily intoxicated, then took off within three minutes. When we complained about things, he said they had “unfortunately just broke down,” as though everything was normally fine. Reading the reviews, it looks like this has been going on for years. The place is listed on Airbnb and Booking.com and should be removed from both. The photos are very old, and the information is completely wrong. Everything is dated, filthy, and smelly. The listed facilities were either broken or didn’t exist. Save your money for somewhere better.

The photos in the listing have nothing to do with what we found. Inside, it was dirty, run-down, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned for ages. Dust covered the furniture, which looked centuries old. There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere, creepy pictures, a ruined sofa, no cleaning cloth, and dirty dishes. We asked the caretaker to deal with the cobwebs and ants. He supposedly came while we were out, but the place was still just as dirty. The bathroom was filthy too, with only two rolls of toilet paper. The pool was in terrible condition. The water was stagnant and so murky you couldn’t see the bottom. It was full of bugs and leaves, and there was a net left for guests to scoop the dirt out themselves. The patio and barbecue area were just as bad, uncleaned and rundown, with a beehive on the grill. Everything outside looked abandoned. At night our area had no lighting because all the lights were burned out. There were no horses or horseback riding trails at all. The owner seemed to care about nothing except money. There were also cats on the property that he didn’t feed or look after. I absolutely don’t recommend this place. Honestly, it was the worst place I’ve ever seen, a complete nightmare.

The one thing going for these apartments is the location, close to the center of Potes. We only stayed one night, and after seeing the state of the place we tried to book somewhere else, but it was too late. We were deeply uncomfortable. Not recommended at all. There was very little light and poor ventilation, and the decor felt rather sinister. The grime and dirt were alarming. The bathroom had damp and filth caked on for years. Dust and stains covered the bed and sofa covers, and both sides of the chair cushions were disgusting, with food still stuck in them.

The pool has no bottom, and the paintings are frightening. The place feels unsettling, as if it once had a glorious past, but now it’s dirty, falling apart, and expensive. If you’re demanding, don’t go. If you’re not, don’t go either.
