Sol del Sur Sierra Nevada

About four months after I paid for and stayed at the accommodation, $350 AUD (£208) was taken from my account. They’ve literally stolen my money.

We booked four nights, but on the first day a storm closed access to Sierra Nevada and made it impossible for us to get there. We told the owner, who cancelled the reservation and claimed we hadn’t shown up. There was no warning and no refund, so we lost the remaining nights and all our money. The owner showed no sympathy and seemed interested only in keeping the full amount, even though the weather prevented us from arriving. I wouldn’t recommend this at all, and don’t book through Booking.com, they take no responsibility for anything.

The place was so bad I’d give it zero stars if I could. My family and I ended up in the worst place in Sierra Nevada. Before we even got inside, there was a musty smell from the walls mixed with sewage and general dirt. The building was filthy and badly looked after. The “apartment” was advertised for five people and had enough space for five, but that was about all it had going for it. We couldn’t even sit down. It was old, dirty, and smelled awful. The bedding was worn thin and used, and there weren’t enough sheet sets for all the beds. Only one person could get hot water in the shower before it had to heat up again for everyone else, and even then the water was just a trickle. The garage ceiling was falling apart too. I’m sure they’d be fined if an inspector came. We stayed because we couldn’t find anywhere else once we arrived, but it made us want to run away. I wish I’d read the reviews first. I wouldn’t recommend it even for free, and it really isn’t cheap. Very, very bad!

We paid €550 for each apartment for four nights, booked from June 2024, and it was extremely expensive for what we got. We’ll never return, especially as both apartments were the same. First we went to the owner’s house in Granada to collect the keys and pay cash, but got no receipt. When we reached the apartments, the one we were given didn’t look like the photos, and the refrigerator had been paid for. As we unloaded, we saw dirt in every corner. We called the owner, who denied it and said she cleaned better than anyone. When we pointed out the dirty sofa covers, she said she changed them once a week. I told her they needed changing and cleaning each time a guest left. She offered to come up and change them and do a little cleaning, but barely did anything. There was a musty smell, no curtains, beds left unmade, damp marks, and a barely clean bathroom. The apartment was disgusting, old, tiny, and terrible.
