A friendly host gave us extra blankets when we felt cold, without any fuss. We really enjoyed our couple of nights here in September. It’s a lovely, quiet place in the mountains and I’d definitely recommend it.

We had booked two nights and already paid a €50 deposit, the cost of one night for two people, but our hire car broke down and we couldn’t drive around Sierra Nevada as planned. When we told the owner we needed to cut the trip short, she was understandably unhappy and told us to sort out the car problem. We felt blamed. She then asked for another €50 to cover possible damage to the small apartment, saying it was a rule for holiday accommodation in Spain. That rule hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. In more than 20 years, we’ve never been asked for a deposit by a host anywhere in Spain. We assumed she was trying to keep the money lost for the second night. We couldn’t resolve things, and we didn’t like the place or apartment, so we left without even using the night we’d paid for. We understand the owner lost money during high season, but blaming us and not being upfront about the rules was unacceptable. We wouldn’t recommend this accommodation.
