Hostal Zapata

The wedding guests made the hallways noisy, and music from the function room downstairs carried on until the early hours, loud enough to shake the bed. The rooms smelled strongly of tobacco too. I’m 50 and have never had such a terrible stay. The receptionist, a dark-haired guy with slicked-back hair, was incredibly rude. I’d never return to this hostel, if it even deserves that name, and wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. At least now I know where it is so I can avoid it. Just three minutes away, Hostal La Curva has friendly, helpful staff, is clean, and has a restaurant with excellent, affordable food. Hostal Zapata is a scam. They even kept the commission from my online reservation through Booking.com.

The place was very clean, and the people were friendly and welcoming. It’s not bad, but it’s expensive for what they offer. I understand the location and the demand, though.

For what I paid, I expected better. The lights didn’t work, the hairdryer was broken, and the beds were uncomfortable. It was also too far from everything, and expensive for what it was.

For a hostel, the accommodation quality is quite good, and everything was very clean. At 30 euros a night, it isn’t bad.
