We had a comfortable stay for a 3-star hotel, with great views of both the mountains and ocean from our room and the rooftop pool. The staff were very friendly, and sorted out issues quickly once they knew about them. The location is handy too, about 5 mins to the beach, 15 to Loro Parque and 10 to the town centre on foot. My all inclusive package had a good drink selection. The food was decent enough, though nothing special. It could be a bit loud near the bus station, and the WiFi was poor everywhere except the ground floor, though that might have been my fault.

This was the first time I’d had service like this. With an “all inclusive” package, we still had to ask for drinks at meals. We waited and nobody came to the table, as if we weren’t there. The food was the same every day, and after 9 days we were dreaming of normal food at home. The cleaning was another problem. We put up the “Do Not Disturb” sign, but staff came in daily anyway. It felt unpleasant and like an intrusion into our personal space. I left my things where they were, expecting no one to enter, but one evening I found my belongings and suitcase moved to a completely different place. The room was cleaned every day, not every three days as the hotel said in its reply. There was no birthday card or any other gesture in the room either. Some staff attitudes were disappointing too. A young waiter stopped paying attention to us after learning we were all inclusive, which made us feel like second-class guests. Staff seemed to treat Spanish-speaking guests very differently from English-speaking ones. There were exceptions: one bartender, one waiter and one chef were genuinely wonderful, friendly, attentive and always smiling. Most of the others either ignored us or looked unhappy to be there. It spoiled the impression of the hotel and the holiday we’d been looking forward to all year. On my birthday, the hotel did nothing. The day before, another guest had been given birthday wishes with a cake and candles, so the difference left a bad feeling, even if it might seem like a small thing. For us, “all inclusive” meant constantly having to ask and eating repetitive food, not feeling comfortable. Other reviews suggest we weren’t the only ones. It’s disappointing that the hotel doesn’t seem to plan to change anything.

We booked through Jet2Holidays and stayed for a week to celebrate our engagement. It was easily the worst holiday we’ve ever had. We didn’t feel welcome, and some bar staff were rude. One started taking our order, then switched to serving someone who spoke Spanish and left us waiting. We paid for all-inclusive, but some drinks still cost extra. When we asked what kind of drink one was, they made it for us and then asked us to pay, even though we’d only been asking about it and didn’t want it. They only accepted card payments, something we hadn’t been told before arriving. When we tried to pay cash, a bar staff member became very hostile. One staff member seemed not to care, and if we went to the local shops, we felt followed around as if we were thieves. Our room was clean, but ants came up from the sink and the shower head kept falling off the wall. We had to get it fixed so we could shower, which wasn’t what we wanted on our first night. There was also a basketball court outside our room that we hadn’t been told about, and games carried on late at night. The food was often cold or the same from day to day. Meat left over from the night before seemed to be served the next day. We couldn’t pay cash at the bar, and still had to pay for some drinks despite the all-inclusive booking. Overall, we found it one of the worst places we’d stayed and won’t come back.

There’s lots to do around the hotel, with the bus station, town and beach only a few minutes’ walk away. A local supermarket is just yards away, and there’s a small shop inside the hotel too. In the foyer there are comfortable seating areas and an in-house travel agent. The hotel also has evening entertainment, a games room, a TV area and a great bar selling really cheap drinks.
