Grupotel Cinco Plazas

We've stayed here for the second year now and are already looking forward to coming back next year. It was a really enjoyable, relaxed visit. The staff are very nice, there's a great on-site shop for drinks beside the large pool, and there are lots of pools for different ages with plenty of room for loungers.

We spent a week here in comfortable, well-equipped accommodation. There were plenty of sunbeds, and the main pool was at a pleasant temperature. We were also pleasantly surprised by how good the live music acts in the afternoons were.

The rooms and facilities were clean, and the cleaners were very nice, but the beds weren't comfortable. We could clearly hear people walking or banging around in other apartments. The mattresses need replacing, and the staff don't really speak English, which made it hard to discuss problems or get anything resolved. It's a good location, and the entertainment seems good for older kids. But a warning to new mums: it's too loud for babies during the day, and if you want to sit by the baby pool, there's no choice about the noise. The baby pool was very cold despite being described as heated, though that might change in better weather. Our biggest problem was the cold. The apartment was freezing, and although we have a small baby, we were told they couldn't provide heaters. “More blankets” was the only suggestion, but you can't put those on a small child. She cried for hours every night because she was cold. You wouldn't expect to have to bring your own heater to a hotel. There are no heaters in most shops in Lanz, and the ones that do sell them charge outrageous prices, €50 for something that costs £10 in the UK. For context, I slept in two T-shirts over full-length pyjama bottoms and usually had my jacket on in the apartment. I think we'd have had a different experience without a small baby and with better weather, but no solution was offered for how cold the rooms were. We were also woken at 9am by SDS drilling tiles in another apartment's bathroom. This was the second time there had been early morning drilling or work while I'd just got the baby back to sleep. It's not acceptable, and nobody offered an apology. We're trying to make the best of our stay, but it's very hard. 😬

Esteban was amazing, so kind and helpful, and full of positive energy. We loved him. Chaimae was lovely too, always so sweet and greeting us with a smile. All the staff were really nice, and the location was excellent.
