Hyde Park Lane Villas

The cats were my favourite part of this lovely villa. There’s a cart area with a big fluffy greyish cat who absolutely loves you, plus a little black one. I spent ages with them on my last day and made a point of petting every one whenever I could. I’m so glad they’re cared for, fed, and have a home there. The staff were all so friendly too. We’d go out every day, and the strip was roughly a 15-minute walk away. We skipped all-inclusive and went out for breakfast and dinner, with taxis back costing about 4 to 5 euros. The villa had loads of useful things, including a kettle, coffee machine, microwave and hob, and the rooms were so clean. Cleaners came every two days. It was my first proper holiday with my boyfriend and we had so much fun. I’d definitely come back.

We enjoyed the music on the different nights, and it finished by 10 pm. There’s a nice, fairly cheap bar and restaurant at the bottom of the hill, which we liked on the walk towards the shops. It takes about 10-15 minutes to reach the start of them. Drinks in the main bar seemed a little expensive, though it’s handy if you don’t fancy walking. The place was lovely and clean, and the staff were lovely too. The rooms have nearly everything you need. A small oven would help, since the kitchenette only has two rings, a microwave and a toaster, but otherwise we had a good stay.

We had such a good time during our four weeks at Hyde Park Lane that we’ve booked to come back next year. We liked having a choice of pools: the bigger one has music and entertainment, while the quieter pool suited us better. There’s a bar, a restaurant on site if you want it, and entertainment each evening. Our self-catering apartment was a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Puerto del Carmen, with plenty of restaurants and bars there. Every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful.

The buffet was the biggest surprise for me. The food and the way it was presented were impressive, much better than the usual hotel spread, and I’d come back for it. The hotel was immaculate too, with staff clearly keeping on top of things. The location worked well for my family. It’s outside the heart of town, so it stayed quiet, but a pleasant 15-minute walk got us there easily. I really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it. The WiFi was a bit unreliable and I found the beds quite uncomfortable. Light sleepers may want to bear that in mind, though the good points outweighed those issues for me.
