El Mirador de Fuerteventura

The sea views were the highlight, and breakfast was excellent, with a good range and quality. The rest of the stay was disappointing. It's a long way from the city center and restaurants, so getting around without a car is inconvenient. The rooms were poorly maintained, with visible mold on the walls, which wasn't acceptable. Sound carries easily between rooms, and we could hear the neighbors clearly, making it very hard to sleep. Luckily, we only stayed one night.

The hotel looked modern and was very clean, and our spacious seafront room had nice views and a luxurious feel. But it wasn't as comfortable as you'd hope from a four-star place. The fridge didn't work, and although reception staff were friendly, they couldn't help. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear the people next door just moving around. When I tried to sit up in bed to watch TV, the bed kept sliding away from the wall, and we had to wedge furniture against it. The TV kept lagging too. There was also what seemed to be a leak or water damage from the bath, with the bedroom paint bubbling. Such a disappointment. I honestly wish I'd gone home a day early instead of staying. I'm glad it was only one night, and I wouldn't book here again.

The sunrise over the sea was great. Everything else was pretty terrible. The hotel is at the end of a runway, and I suspect flood damage has left the floors warped. The bathroom taps had loose fittings that needed two hands, and the sealant and tiles were in poor shape. The whole place felt run down. The included food was inedible. The kitchen staff knew about it, shrugged, and offered a basic salad. For dessert, we got an unpeeled orange. There isn't a pool either, just a derelict hole in the ground.

Sleep was almost impossible in our seafront room. Soundproofing was very poor, and we heard constant waves and wind even with earplugs, plus the room was right under the flight path for take-offs. I asked to move, but they said the hotel was fully booked, although Booking showed rooms still available. Strange. The shower's hot water flow was very low, both in the evening and in the morning. A really bad experience, though fortunately we were only there one night.
