Hotel Parada Puigcerdà

The breakfast was amazing, especially all the cheese and pastries. There’s a spa, and the rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and lots of charm. The trains are right downstairs, and the staff were essential in helping me get around and do the things I wanted to do here.

The buffet had a good range of food, and our room was clean, comfortable, and a good size. We could leave our bags securely until check-in at 3pm. It was easy to reach the hotel straight from the platform after the short train ride from the international station at Latour de Carol. The receptionists we met were friendly, and spoke some French as well as Spanish. After a day of walking, booking the spa for the evening was great. We also loved the free funicular and lift into the heart of Puigcerdà. There were plenty of bars and restaurants in the center, and we enjoyed the little bar/cafe by the lake.

The bed and bedding really stood out, and the spotless room had amazing high ceilings. Reception gave us a pleasant welcome, and parking nearby was easy. It felt like a five-star stay. We’ll definitely come back if we’re in the area.

We had just one night, so we couldn’t use the hot tub, which has to be reserved ahead of time. I’d assumed the reviews mentioning that were from the COVID era, but it’s still the policy, even though it looks beautiful in the photos. The stay itself was good value, with comfortable beds, a convenient location, friendly desk staff, and easy check-in and check-out. There’s free public parking nearby. A few room details could be better. In our family room with three beds, the large lounge chair could have been swapped for a small table and three chairs. One window hinge was broken, so only one of the two windows opened. Front desk hours are limited, and if you need a towel or anything else, you have to call someone offsite. The room uses a physical key, the electricity needs a key card, and the outside door needs a code. I forgot the code and got locked out.
