Park-Hotel

Our fourth-floor room had a beautiful view over the valley and mountains. We ate breakfast there and also chose lunch at the hotel, where the food was great and the service even better. A few small problems did take away some of the shine. The receptionist who first checked us in wasn’t very welcoming. During the COVID period, I found sticky drink marks on the bedside table and wondered how thoroughly the room had been cleaned after the previous guests. The air-conditioning/heater wasn’t working either. That might have mattered more in different weather. It’s a huge hotel right on the edge of Puigcerda.

The room was clean, the location was good, and most staff were friendly. The view is worth seeing, and the cafeteria coffee and croissant were very good, though it only opens for limited hours. We were a family of four and had dinner and breakfast at the hotel because it was December 24 and the whole town was closed from 1pm. The food was awful. The meat was inedible, the salad was disappointing, and breakfast was poor, with limited, middling-quality options. My kids cleared out the vending machine, but it had very little to choose from. There’s a pool table for €1 a game, but it has old balls and only two working cues. The old foosball table is also €1 per game. The cheap table tennis table has broken edges and a loose net, and only two plastic rackets, though it’s free. You can stay here, but I’d definitely avoid the food.

The staff were very polite and friendly, the rooms were clean with daily service, there was lots of parking, and the playground was nice for young children. It’s a 15-20 minute drive to La Molina and Masella, and Carrefour is just a minute away by car, handy given our experience with the meals. We were on an all-inclusive ski trip and ate at the restaurant every day because breakfast and dinner came with the package. The food was appalling, pretty much inedible, and the worst I’ve ever had. Breakfast was meant to run until 10am, but at 9:30 it was already packed away and closed. We asked about it, were told it would be open until 10 the next day, and found the same thing again. The rooms desperately need updating. They’re basic and poorly lit, our shower door kept falling off its hinge, and when you lifted the shower nozzle, which touched the ceiling, the ceiling moved up. Traffic was quite loud. In our family room only one of the two rooms had a working heater. The key card failed every day, so we kept going back and forth to reception for a new one, which gets frustrating with young kids. If you just need somewhere basic to sleep before skiing all day, it serves that purpose. For anything more, I’m not sure I’d recommend it.

It’s a peaceful spot a little outside Puigcerdà, with beautiful mountain views from every room. The center is about a 15-20 minute walk away. I prefer quiet places where I can sit and look at the mountains, so this suited me. There’s a garden right in front for a stroll and a bit of nature, plus a playground, a pool that was closed because it was still too cold, a football field, basketball court, and two paddle courts. Staff can lend you balls, including basketballs and footballs. We had a clean room with a proper terrace, table and chairs, and good Wi-Fi. There’s a TV too. Inside, there’s a spa, massage, billiards, ping pong, some kind of cinema, and a disco that isn’t currently running. The bar has a cozy, relaxing seating area. The restaurant has great food, staff, and views, with a variety of interesting dishes. I recommend lunch and dinner there, especially since the hotel is a little outside town. The staff were very kind and hospitable. It was a lovely, relaxing stay, and I’ll definitely return.
