Leo Enebrales

Our dog got a toy, and Lorena Copete Delgado at reception treated my wife, our dog, and me like royalty. She welcomed us warmly and found us a spectacular pool-view room at the last minute. Thanks to her and the excellent cleaning staff, we could check in early despite the heat. Everything was spotless, and the mattress and pillow were in perfect condition. The pool is one of the best I've seen, and the lifeguard is young and very friendly. The hotel is right by the beach, just across two pedestrian crossings and up a short wooden ramp. There's a shopping center nearby, and the lively center of Punta Umbría is only three minutes away, with great places to eat and charming streets to stroll around. This will be our hotel for the rest of our summers. Ten out of ten for Lorena Copete Delgado, the hotel, and its location.

We arrived to find one pool green and the other only just being filled. Workers were laying artificial turf, and the sun loungers were still in plastic. It was shocking after they'd told us the pool wasn't open and there were no other apartments available. They said we could use pools in another building on the next street, but wouldn't refund our money. We had booked accommodation only in a ground-floor apartment with a balcony looking over the pool. We were outraged, as were many families who'd come with children, expecting to leave them at the pools while relaxing on their terraces. We had to stay in a hotel instead. This felt like a complete rip-off. I could have stayed in a hostel for half the price, since these places aren't cheap either. Selling one thing and leaving us helpless on arrival is shameless. I'll never return to Apartamentos Leo.

We had to start cleaning as soon as we arrived. The smell of damp and dirt, not rain, was unbearable. When we raised it, they insisted their cleaning standards were high instead of admitting the apartment hadn't been cleaned in a while. It's advertised as “beachfront” and “next to the beach,” but that isn't true. The walk takes about 15 minutes, which is a real drawback if you're with elderly or sick people.

This was our first and last stay at Leo Enebrales. I spent the first day of my vacation scrubbing. The place was filthy: pet hair all over the bedspread, dripping bathroom faucets, dusty gel and shampoo dispensers with gel spilled around them, a dirty fridge, and a microwave full of crumbs and splattered food. The sofa bed was filthy, the TV and air conditioning remotes were sticky, and the air conditioner was full of lint and smelled awful. Kitchen drawers sagged, the kitchen had oily fingerprints everywhere, and the utensils still had food on them. The sheets were torn, the pillowcase and protector didn't cover the pillow, and the blankets smelled musty. The sofa bed was laughable, sounding like an old tractor, and its mattress was paper-thin. I've stayed at Leo Punta Umbría and Leo Deluxe for eight years altogether, and this time was a disgrace. You're also sharing the place with apartments owned by landlords, so it feels like you're “just borrowing” one. The common areas aren't as clean as they are in an aparthotel.
