We left happily stuffed and would definitely recommend it. The food was spectacular, and the service was a dream. There were lots of flies, though, and the really strong Mencía needed a while to breathe.

We fell for Rabade on our walk around the quiet little town, and dinner turned out to be just as lovely. At 8:30pm they took us to the Asador, where the service was incredibly efficient and kind, unlike anything we’d experienced in Spain. The menu was delicious: artichoke hearts with jamón ibérico salt to start, then a tender, juicy, perfectly cooked lamb leg that was a great amount for two. We also had a bold, delicious local Cantabrico red wine, and finished with spectacular homemade cheesecake. We’d booked at the last minute after seeing pictures of the restaurant, so weren’t sure what to expect. The hotel has a Michelin star from 2024, and it’s absolutely deserved. Our room was very clean and spacious. The only issues were that the AC was set to heat only when we booked in late May, and the toilet seemed a little loose.

The place is elegant, and the desserts were spot on. The food quality is excellent, and the cecina was the best I’ve ever tried. One heads up, you need to call ahead if you want to try the lechonazo pictured, so they can prepare it. Five stars!

The rooms are nice for an overnight stay, and I was really impressed by the restaurant’s food and service. I’ll definitely come back once.
