Ramales is a lovely little local town, with walks in the surrounding hills and caves, plus local bars for a drink afterward. Rio Ason turned out to be a really lovely surprise. The hotel is clean, modern, and quiet, with a good-sized room, secure off-street parking, and a good breakfast buffet. Best of all, the staff are amazing. Anna and the rest of the team were helpful from the moment we arrived, genuinely friendly, and happy to chat. I can't recommend Rio Ason highly enough and really hope to visit again. Thanks, team RioAson!

Anna at reception was so kind and friendly, and went out of her way to help us with bus times and the next part of our trip. The hotel was beautiful and spotless, and the balcony had an amazing view. We also really enjoyed the self-service breakfast. We'd definitely stay again.

There’s secure parking for motorcycles, and the staff are lovely, friendly, and helpful. The self-service breakfast was good too. The hotel itself is modern, stylish, and clean. It’s a useful stop before or after a UK-Spain ferry from Santander or Bilbao. Set away from the usual routes, it gives you a feel for real Spain, in the interesting, spectacular Sierra del Hornijo with its limestone features.

We brought our car and appreciated the free off-street parking. Ramales is a beautiful base for hikers, with caves, rock-climbing, and hiking trails nearby. The beaches at Laredo are 15 minutes away, while Bilbao and Santander are about an hour by car for day trips. Our room was extremely comfortable and spotless, and that shower was amazing. Breakfast was excellent. The surrounding area is lovely, and the staff were wonderful, always friendly and helpful. We were so impressed and highly recommend staying here.
