Hotel Presa

Lunch was a pleasant surprise. We shared a generous, tasty tuna salad, and both the salmon and sirloin were good portions and well cooked. The house dessert, cream on banana, was excellent. Service was very friendly.

Our room, the view, and the location were superb. We had a lovely two-night stay with our toddler and dog, and found the room comfortable. We didn't try the food or other services, so can't comment on those. Riaño is spectacular, and we'd recommend visiting.

The location is great, but the meal was indescribably bad and the service made things worse. We had to pre-order cocido, then waited over 30 minutes for it while everyone else got their main courses. It came in three parts: first a pot of oil and fat soaked with bread, then hard, overcooked, tasteless legumes, and finally a platter of cheap, low-quality meat with no flavor. After 40 years living in Spain, I've never had anything like it. On top of that, fumes from the kitchen below are pumped into the dining room, leaving the whole place smelling of burnt grease. If you're in Riaño, I'd go anywhere else, even if it means driving away.

The cleaning ladies were lovely, but the service overall was very rude, especially one person. During our stay they were overly invasive under the guise of being friendly, then spoke to me in a cold, condescending way as I left the room four minutes before checkout, rushing me out. This was low season, and check-in and checkout can involve quite a wait. The room was tiny and very dated in its decor. There was a little desk, but no nearby outlet, so working on a laptop wasn't possible. One bathroom towel had grey stains, which was gross. I won't stay here again.
