A real step back through 100 years of history.

We had a terrible experience and wouldn’t go back for anything. After booking a room, we stayed for lunch. We ordered a beer first and got about five olives, while the other tables were given a really nice appetizer. To go with the beer we ordered reheated pork belly, and the bill came to €16. The meal was awful: greasy starters, and dry suckling pig that had been reheated. After washing our clothes twice, they still smelled of fried food. The room was a decent size, but the sheets were stained, the bedspreads dirty, the pillows awful, and the water was cold, so we couldn’t shower. When we showed the mess to an employee as we left, they weren’t surprised at all. They must be used to complaints. The next morning we sat in the sunny terrace area for breakfast, but after 15 minutes with no one serving us, we left. We ended up having a wonderful breakfast for €5.80 at the café/bakery on the corner.

We went in for a drink at around 12:30, and the bar area was full. The cook was very kind and offered us a table in the dining room, even though it hadn’t been set up yet. We appreciated that. She said we needed to order at the bar, so my mother went to order what we’d originally wanted. The younger waiter served her without any trouble and was very pleasant. Then a man, who we assume owns the bar/restaurant, came over and rudely told us we couldn’t sit there. Sir, don’t start by shouting at my family or me. Later, the friendly older gentleman came to our table to check what my mother had ordered because he didn’t believe her when the waiter asked her to repeat it. That was rude, too. You should find another line of work, because you’ve lost good customers. A little later, two more people arrived, and I told them not to order because he didn’t deserve a single euro from them. Ours was already spent. Very disrespectful and rude.

The dinner was a bad choice from start to finish. We waited half an hour just for someone to take our order, and the elderly waitress didn’t even look at us. We ordered meatballs and broth, but they’d run out. The food was so bad that the bread and water were the best parts, and we left feeling awful for not ordering more. They also never brought the ham hock we’d asked for. As we were leaving, we saw two bowls of broth on another table and asked about them. They said they “maybe” had just made them. It might be fine for a beer, but forget eating here. We went with family for dinner and couldn’t have chosen worse. Based on other reviews, I imagine the hotel is just as bad.
