Hotel O Caravel

The room and bathroom were really dirty.

The room was quiet at night, spacious, spotless, and warm, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and very clean. I’d never come across a low star hotel bathroom with a hairdryer before, and the generous bottles of shower gel and shampoo were a nice surprise. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, served quickly and piping hot. The staff were attentive and so friendly, even asking whether we wanted to visit nearby sights. Everything made for a perfect stay. We’ll definitely be back!

We booked at the last minute after reading the reviews and regretted it. Opening the room door, we were met by a horrible musty, dirty odor. There were cobwebs and hair in the bathroom, and the old, dusty furniture was uncomfortable. A disgrace. The breakfast people mentioned as “Imperial” in the reviews was just coffee and a slice of toast, and those reviews seem clearly rigged. What a letdown.

Such a modest hostel, but still a lovely one. The mattresses were really comfortable, everything was clean, and the views of the river/Ensanche were beautiful. It’s very quiet, and the owner is a sweetheart, always ready with a little something for you to take home. We tried the nearby hot springs she suggested and loved them. We’ll come back.
