Hotel Ros Mary

The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom looked brand new. After a hot 31 km hike, we really needed a little pampering, and the friendly young woman who welcomed us was so helpful and couldn’t have done more. They’d already been great before our stay, too, waiving the charge for a late cancellation caused by a mix-up in our itinerary. This place beats a lot of four-star hotels we’ve stayed in across Spain. It’s unfortunate that the restaurant’s poor reviews have dragged down the overall score, since I believe it’s no longer part of the same business.

The included breakfast is served at the bar next door. They insisted I pay the extra €1.50 for the larger breakfast, which felt a bit stingy for a pilgrim who needs all the breakfast she can get. Still, the fresh orange juice was delicious. At the hotel, the receptionists were very friendly, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the location couldn’t be better. When I asked for a drying rack, they offered me the hotel’s sheet drying lines.

The staff were kind and attentive, and the hotel has recently been refurbished. It’s in a great spot in Ribadeo. For breakfast, there’s a great coffee bar, Linares, just across the street, with churros too :-)

The waiter was extremely rude and kept pushing us to order more when we only wanted a snack. The prices were high for frozen food, and the food was bad by Spanish standards. The croquetas were the worst I’ve had in Spain. You’d be better off buying even the cheapest ones at Eroski.
