The accommodation was lovely, and the staff on duty at different times were all welcoming and kind. The pillows were the drawback. Noise carries through the building: footsteps overhead, doors opening and closing, and very loud plumbing whenever someone used the water or flushed the toilet. It sounded like construction.

The beds were very comfortable, and the hotel is nicely located near several good restaurants and quick eateries. The walls are thin, though: I heard the guest next door snoring for half the night, and pilgrims leaving early in the morning with their boots thumping down the wooden stairs. There’s also a strange half step up into the bathroom that made me stumble a couple of times.

We prefer small, quirky places with character to chain hotels. Our room had a little terrace overlooking the river, and we watched horses running in the woods opposite while hearing ducks, chickens and the river. The manageress was lovely and very patient with our attempts to speak Spanish.

The hotel is in a great position in town, and the girl at reception was really pleasant and helpful. It’s a little tired, but for the price you can’t go wrong.
