Castell de Llaes

The castle has plenty of character, while the rooms, kitchen, and dining areas are comfortable enough for a good stay. The hosts are very kind and happy to tell you about the castle and the surrounding area. It’s a lovely place to relax and take in the views.

We loved how peaceful the castle was, and the terraces and courtyard have lovely views in every direction. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and beautiful, there’s a radiator in every room, and the kitchen has everything you’d need to cook. WiFi worked great despite the remote location. The living area is full of history and interesting things to look at, and there’s a beautiful church and cemetery nearby. The dining room has two big tables, each seating about eight. Getting there was easy, and the drive is beautiful. Marc met us and helped carry our bags up to the castle, mostly using an electric pulley. The walk is short but steep, with a cliffside stretch and stairs, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who uses a wheelchair. Marc was kind and helpful, and gave us good tips for places to visit. My girlfriend and I stayed four nights and enjoyed every minute. There’s lots of sleeping space, and it would be a romantic spot for a wedding, honeymoon, anniversary, or reunion. We highly recommend it.

The castle sits quietly in the mountains near Ripoll, and the setting is wonderful. Outside, all you hear is the occasional cowbell in the distance, and at night the Milky Way is visible. We also really enjoyed meeting the owner, Mark, and his wife. Mark knows so much about the castle’s history and took the time to show us around the grounds. The castle itself is gorgeous and very well kept. Staying there was the most magical experience I’ve had all year.

The castle is comfortable, the owner and groundskeeper is kind and very helpful, and the views are breathtaking from every angle. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime stay.
