We’ve been coming to Roda for our annual golf weekend for nearly 20 years, and the course itself is great. But this visit, without telling us, they added two strangers to a game booked for 13 close friends. We only meet a few times a year and really look forward to playing together. The two new players were nice enough, but we wound up with a buggy we didn’t need and had to share the round with people we’d never met. I’m glad Roda made a little extra money, but they’ve lost our group. We’ll look elsewhere in future. Adding players to groups can be fine, but splitting up a booking without notice wasn’t professional. I wish Roda had thought it through.

The course was decent, though pricey. The food was a real letdown. My friend’s pizza was undercooked, with small pieces of tinned ham, and my chicken burger was advertised as free range even though it looked pre-formed and frozen. Overall, it felt overpriced.

The clubhouse was a lovely spot for a beer in the sunshine, and the course was immaculate. The resort was really clean too. I did think a round was a bit expensive, especially since the course isn’t that challenging.

The course is kept in excellent shape, and it works for experienced golfers as well as newcomers. The shop and driving range are top notch too, and Pro Paul is great. Food at the restaurant is good, with very reasonable clubhouse prices. Service in the bar and restaurant is the weak point: staff are very slow and inattentive, and don’t seem very interested in giving customers a good experience. As an owner at Roda Golf, I’d use the bar more if that improved. Looking forward to the new paddle courts.

Whenever I’m back in the Mercia region, Roda is one of the first courses I want to play. It’s in superb condition, even on my last couple of visits during off-peak times when it wasn’t busy. The holes flow well and still give you a challenge. There’s a great clubhouse and Pro shop, and the staff are courteous and helpful. A must-play if you’re in the region.
