We weren’t staying at the hotel, just came for dinner after a long day on the Camino. It was a relief that the restaurant opened at 4pm. We both ordered the 25€ menu del dia and, as it turned out, got the same dishes. That goat cheese salad is a must for me: lettuce, walnuts, sultanas, diced ham, balsamic, another sauce that might have been raspberry, and a warm wheel of goat cheese. Really good. The red wine braised pork cheeks came with gravy and roughly mashed potatoes, and were very tasty too. We finished with brownie and ice cream. The brownie had walnuts and was nicely baked, with whipped cream on the side and a scoop of ice cream that may have been raspberry. Great dinner. I’d happily go back.

The food portions were huge and very tasty, and the prices were very low. After climbing the Pyrénées mountains and walking all that way, I thought the stay was absolutely worth it if you can afford it, though it isn’t cheap, especially next to the PilgrimsHotel. One night with dinner and breakfast included came to around 140€. Coming from Saint Jean Pied de Port after 26km through the Pyrénées mountains, there are two first places to stay at the Roncesvalles Monastery: the Pilgrims Hostel, with dormitories, and the 3 star Hotel Roncesvalles. The hotel has comfortable rooms with a private bathroom and kitchenette, plus its own restaurant.

The room was really clean, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed for one night while walking the camino and had the pilgrims menue, which was really good. I’d definitely come back.

The rooms are spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the place. At the restaurant, the 25 euro menu is highly recommended, the food was delicious 😋 and the service was quick and very good.
