Hotel Sevilla

I only stayed one night. The hotel itself wasn’t that bad and the basic amenities worked, but it’s old and clearly short on care. The low price is about the only thing the negative reviews don’t cover. Little details make the difference, and there were plenty of issues. Staff seemed unfriendly and uninterested, with no smiles or initiative. The rooms were very basic and uncomfortable, the mattress was old, and the pillows were terribly flat. There was a phone in the room but no information about how to reach reception, so it was useless. I really dislike check-in at 3 p.m. and checkout before noon, which here was 11 a.m. The usual hotel times around the world are 2 p.m. and noon. It feels like places have started pushing those hours later and earlier because they won’t hire enough staff and housekeeping can’t turn rooms around in two hours. That shouldn’t be my problem. The only time I saw anyone take initiative was exactly at 11, when a woman knocked and rather rudely said I was already five minutes late. The hotel was half-empty. I didn’t see other guests during my stay, and rooms were even being sold for less than I’d paid. Nobody was waiting to check in, so I didn’t understand the rush. After Ronda I stayed at a two-star hotel in Sevilla with much better hospitality and atmosphere.
