Camping Rodas

We almost missed out because the site was full when we arrived, and it was full again when we left, with people constantly coming and going. We managed to get a spot for two nights in our campervan after someone at an earlier campsite recommended it. There’s a great restaurant, roomy pitches, and a lovely town nearby that’s good for cycling. We wished we could stay longer and will definitely be back.

The pool looks wonderful for summer, and everything we used was in working order. The toilets, showers, and washing-up facilities were spotless, and the campsite itself is really well kept. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant’s terrace was a nice place to sit. If you want to visit, go soon, as it closes at the end of next week.

The beach is fantastic, and the campsite is about a 29-minute walk away. From there it’s another 10 minutes into the centre, with plenty of shops, bars, and places to eat. It’s a very professionally run place with a great pool, bar, and restaurant. We’re planning to come back this April.

The facilities were very clean, with staff constantly cleaning them, so a big thank you to those employees. One man at reception was helpful and friendly, though the woman I asked about the muddy ground was rather rude. There was still water on many pitches when we arrived after the previous day’s rain, and the clay soil wasn’t draining it. More rain later made our pitch extremely slippery, especially at night. I asked whether they could do anything, like add sand, but she just said it was wet, that was normal, and we’d have to wait for it to dry. It wasn’t a great start to our five-night stay, though the weather improved over the next few days, so we were lucky. A couple of empty pitches had dog mess or rubbish when we looked around, though it was probably cleaned up soon. Some pitches are small or less idyllic, but still okay. The site can get very muddy in the rain, so I wouldn’t recommend it without a water-permeable awning carpet. There are far too many dogs for our taste. They barked during the day and some at night, though fortunately they have to be kept on leads. The campsite isn’t very close to nice beaches, but there are some lovely ones around.
