The staff were pleasant and helpful, and parking on site was free. I stayed last year on a last minute trip. There’s a great view from the location, but getting back from town means a punishing uphill walk since the hotel sits much higher than the seafront. The room felt dated and rundown, and the bed wasn’t comfortable. The bathroom was clean and laid out well, while breakfast was mediocre. For the price, it’s a reasonable place to get a bed for the night.

The pool is fantastic, with a 22m length and a 3m deep end, and the upper floor views are incredible. The air conditioning in the rooms is excellent too. Those are the only real positives, though. With so many problems, I can’t give it more than two stars, even though it could be a four star hotel. Getting to the hotel means tackling an extremely steep hill. In summer, walking up leaves you sweating and exhausted. There is a shuttle, but you have to book it in advance, it only runs a few times a day, and the last one is at 7pm. That makes it useless for an evening meal in town. Taxis are hard to find there, and we ended up walking back after booked taxis failed to show. The rooms have the bare minimum, more like a youth hostel. No fridge, kettle, or coffee machine, so hardly anyone uses the balconies. There isn’t even a sink plug for washing a few clothes, which matters if you travel light. When we found no shower soap or gel, reception said they don’t provide toiletries and we’d have to wait for the cleaners the next day. We went without a shower that night, expecting the empty dispenser to be refilled in the morning. The room was cleaned, but the soap still wasn’t replaced, so we had to find a supermarket and buy shower gel and shampoo ourselves. The shower is weak too, with hot and cold water fluctuating. The buffet breakfast is good, but they’d rather throw away leftover food than let you take a croissant or fruit to your room. The walls are paper thin, and we heard every cough and movement next door. If management focused more on customers and less on cutting every cost, they could have a decent hotel. I hope they make the changes I’ve described.

The rooms have the best views you could wish for, with a big, comfortable bedroom and a balcony. The buffet food was nice with lots of choice, and dinner wine was good and well priced. We also loved having the huge pool in temperatures over 30 degrees. The town centre and port are a short walk, although the return climb is very steep. It’s doable if you take your time. Lovely for a two star hotel, though a little tired in places. The location and facilities make up for that.

We had a really good three night stay with the family. The food was amazing, and the room terraces have great views. The only awkward part was the climb from the centre, about 15 minutes on foot. I later found out there’s a private bus down to the city every 15 minutes. After checkout, they also drove us and our suitcases to the bus station. If you’re arriving with suitcases, contact them ahead of time and ask to be picked up.

The view from the large balcony was spectacular, and the hotel matches its description as casual lodging with a panoramic view. The room was basic and spacious, with few comforts: no air conditioning, just a fan. Breakfast also comes with a view, with indoor and outdoor tables and a good quality mix of local and continental items. Parking was easy, and the staff were friendly. Walking into town takes about 10 minutes, or around 15 uphill. There was a free show on Saturday night. It’s a two star hotel, but the stay is totally worth it.
