Hotel Risech

We’d driven three hours from Barcelona for a restful weekend with my parents, and rented two rooms for the four of us. After arriving tired around 5 pm, I lay down for a short nap. I woke up feeling something on me and found lots of bedbugs around the bed. It was terrifying. I screamed, my sister woke up, and my mother came in from the next room. I took off all my clothes while Mum went to report it at reception. They moved us to another room with what looked like a newer duvet. The one in my original room had been very old. After that, nobody came to check what was in the room or apologize. I couldn’t sleep that evening because I kept thinking about the insects on me or in the bed, and the whole experience ruined any chance to relax. We left the next day, and nobody asked if I was okay or said sorry. They don’t follow health and safety rules. I’ll never come back.

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were nice. But for the price, I’d choose somewhere else. Breakfast was really poor, especially given how much fresh fruit there is in Spain. The parking was very expensive, and our view looked out over the parking area and the sea. Noise continued until midnight and started again early in the morning.

We were happy with what we paid for a double room for one night. It was clean, but small. I wouldn’t want to stay more than a night or two in that size of double room, though they may have other room options.

The location is right on the seafront, with lots of restaurants nearby, including the hotel’s own place, which looked quite decent and was busy. Public parking costs about €16, which felt expensive. Breakfast was okay overall, but the orange juice was awful and the coffee came from a machine. We didn’t see any service staff until 8:20 am. The bathroom was fine, with a renovated shower, but the tiny room and awful beds made this a hard stay. There were two beds in terrible shape, both too short for me at 1.87 m, with my feet hanging off the end and the mattress sagging through. We travel quite a bit and these were the worst beds we’ve had in years. It might be acceptable for a two-star hotel, but we wouldn’t stay another night and suggest looking elsewhere in Roses.
