Cuatro Aguas

The lack of airflow made the heat upstairs especially hard to deal with. We stayed in June, and the attic level had no air conditioning or even a fan at first. We asked about changing rooms because the view we were given was of a house, with buildings around and in front blocking the breeze. The owner brought a fan on day two. She said apartments were assigned as guests arrived, without a set order, even though the upstairs rooms were empty. Communication was a recurring problem. On Tuesday morning, a cleaner arrived expecting to clean our occupied apartment because nobody had told her we were there. We only happened to meet her. We also ran into her on Thursday, and she said she would return later to change the sheets, which apparently happens every four days. Nobody had mentioned this when we arrived, even though we had been told there was no cleaning service and that we should tidy up after ourselves. I don't object to sheets being changed, but guests should be told beforehand. The pillows had visible stains, though the sheets smelled clean. The apartment wasn't explained to us at check-in, including the fact that the thermostat didn't work. We were told only to clean up any stains. The kitchen had very few dishes, glasses, and pieces of cutlery, and the small fridge had no freezer. For a week, we got two sets of towels but just two rolls of toilet paper. We had to ask for more paper and garbage bags, and also for a cloth to clean the dried bird droppings from the skylight. We never got the cloth, so we couldn't open the upstairs door because of the bugs and dirt coming in. There were cleanliness issues too. Half a roll of toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom had a brown stain, and the rusty shower head and holder for the gel and shampoo didn't look good. There was no shampoo. We threw away the cinnamon air freshener, which we don't like, and tried to cover the smell from the pipes and dampness. From bed we could see lots of old cobwebs above us, which we had to clean ourselves, and the skylight glass was dirty. We asked to change rooms so we wouldn't have to list everything we had found, on top of how hot it was.
