I was worn out when I reached this beautiful Posada around 5pm on Sunday, and the welcome and easy check-in were just what I needed. I’d assumed there’d be somewhere nearby to get dinner, but it was Sunday and everything was closed for several kilometres. I’d resigned myself to eating my last two power bars when the host offered to drive me to the nearby town. I turned down the ride, but said I was hungry. About 10 minutes later, the hosts knocked with a grilled sandwich and a glass of wine they’d gone out of their way to prepare. Their kindness and patience with my weak Spanish really blew me away. It was the best rest I’ve had on the Camino del Norte, and I’d love to stay again.

The village is peaceful and surrounded by nature, with a cliff nearby that’s well worth seeing. Our room was quiet and had beautiful views. Everything is lovingly looked after, right down to the decor, and the owner is charming and always attentive. Breakfast was very generous, served at the table with fruit, toast, yogurt, and more. It’s a wonderful place, like something from a storybook!

It’s a simple inn in a handy spot for visiting Comillas and the surrounding area. I stayed two nights with breakfast included for €75 per person. The room was comfortable and breakfast was very complete. The bathroom has only a shower with a curtain, which isn’t ideal, and the water can be cold if you shower late. Still, it was fine and simple. The service was good, and I’m glad I stayed.
