Hostal Ses Negres

We had a fantastic stay. The location is great and the place has a lot of charm, with tasteful decor. Breakfast was excellent. The restaurant was closed that day, so we couldn’t have dinner down by the beach, but its little terrace looked stunning.

We were well looked after by the hotel staff, and I’d happily stay again, hopefully in one of the higher-end rooms. When we booked, those rooms were full, so we had a lower-end room on the second floor facing the back, with a window onto the hillside and no real view. It was clean and comfortable, and that suited us since we spent most of our time out. The location is hard to beat for access to the beach and restaurants. Sa Riera beach is close, broad, and nice. Platja de I’llla Roja is a 10-15 minute walk away, in an extraordinarily beautiful natural setting, and is officially and famously clothing optional. The Camino Ronda runs through Sa Riera, with trails in both directions. We went southwest and hiked about 4 miles out and back. It’s strikingly beautiful, though a bit rough in places after about half a mile. Breakfast had lots of options and good hours. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant on the beach, so I can’t say much about the food, but it’s ideally placed for views of the sand and sea. Hotel parking was a 5-7 minute walk uphill, but only 3 euro per day.

The location is excellent, the service is great, and breakfast is very cute. Getting to the hotel is a bit tricky the first time, since you have to park at least a 10-minute walk away. The hotel is old, the beds are uncomfortable, and the smells are strong: mold in the evening and cleaning products during the day. Replying to the comment: I don’t remember our room number, but it was on the second floor. The booking was under my husband’s name. You also took a photo of my passport, so I believe you can see I was there. We stayed between July 12-14.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Hostal Ses Negres, my wife, me, and our two adult kids. Our upper-level apartment for four was spacious, air-conditioned, and just right for us. It had a balcony with partial views and cooking facilities for self-catering. Manager Michael was a real asset and gave us a warm welcome. Since parking and access in Sa Riera are tight, he explained where to leave the car after we unloaded our cases in front of the hotel. The paid car park was a 10-minute walk uphill, which worked fine for us because there’s no need to use a car in Sa Riera. The hostal is a small, design-focused boutique hotel, with a breakfast area and a small reception. Its Terass restaurant is a purpose-built indoor/outdoor space with a great feel, in a prime spot overlooking Sa Riera beach. The hotel is metres from the wide, deep sandy beach, plus lots of restaurants and bars in upscale, family-friendly Sa Riera. There are epic cliff-top walks nearby on the Cami De Ronda, and we enjoyed taking the efficient local bus into beautiful Begur. We thoroughly recommend Hostal Ses Negres for a trip to the beautiful Costa Brava.
