Camping Valle De Tena

The toilets were clean, but the pitches felt incredibly cramped and there was no privacy. The place had all the atmosphere of a squatter camp. I can’t imagine anyone booking it for a family holiday and coming away without bitter disappointment.

The pool and busy bar and restaurant make staying here good value, and the new facilities block was a pleasant surprise. It’s a lovely little site in a fantastic setting. Getting to the pitches can be tight, though many are a good size, especially higher up. A great spot for a stopover or a few days of real relaxation.

There are pitches for campers, caravans, and tents, alongside quite a few seasonal spots used by Spanish visitors. Hiking routes are close by, within 6 km, and we cycled there and left our bikes near the parking area. The washrooms really need heating, since it was cold when showering or using the toilet. Low branches also made the gray water disposal point risky for our camper, and the trees along the routes to the pitches need trimming too.

The bathrooms and dishwashing areas were really nice, and the spots were a bit flatter than at the Viu campgrounds, though this place cost more. Both nights we were woken at 2 a.m. by what sounded like gunshots.
