Apartbeach Arquus Park I

The location gets five stars, and the view is great if you have a room at the front. Everything else was poor. My key card needed fixing six times a day, so I was constantly going up and down the stairs from the 7th floor. There are only 2 lifts for 8 floors, and you can't get one if you're above the 3rd. My room was basic, and the air con was so loud I couldn't use it. The service of getting into your room clearly doesn't extend to fixing the card.

The buffet restaurant felt like a roadside service station, and the food was low quality. We stayed only one night before moving to a different 4 star hotel. This place is rated four stars, but it felt like two at best, and I think Catalan authorities should review that rating. Our first room was on the 9th floor. It seemed unused for a while, smelled of sewage, and had a quite dirty bathroom. The whole floor was old and needed renovation. There are only 2 elevators for a 10 floor building, so many people take the stairs. We'd booked a triple room but were given a double, so they moved us to a better-kept room on a lower floor. The move was handled positively by the team, which I appreciated. The room phone couldn't reach reception because its line was deactivated. That option was still listed in the information they gave us, though staff said they'd removed phones from service in every room. We had to walk down 9 floors to speak to reception.

I really liked this hotel, though the Wi-Fi kept cutting out and barely worked. The restaurant staff were rude, and one woman kept asking for my room number. I was in room 232 and felt really uncomfortable about it. I do love those mini croissants with chocolate inside, they're my favourite. The glass lift was broken for ages while I was there, but it's fixed now.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely rooms and an amazing view. The entertainment was all focused on the French coach trip guests who were there when we visited. They were rude, pushing and shoving us in the restaurant and lifts, and it felt like a free for all. The restaurant staff and some of the bar staff were ignorant. If you're all inclusive, you're treated like second class guests: cocktails come in plastic cups without umbrellas or decorations. Paying guests get all the extras. 😔😡☹️
