Apartsalou Priorat Apartments

After spending the day at PortAventura Park, all we wanted was to leave our things and unwind. Instead, we found out that the owner had handed the apartment we’d booked and paid for in advance to somebody else. We were left with all our belongings and nowhere to stay, and he refused to help. He said we should have met him earlier, even though we’d confirmed our arrival the day before. During our stay in Salou, that was a horrible situation to be in. Avoid Apartsalou Priorat if you don’t want to go through the same ordeal.

The apartment was in such poor condition that when I called the man managing the apartments to complain about the cleanliness, he shouted at me. He excused it by saying this was a tourist apartment. I absolutely can’t recommend staying here. The kitchen and bathroom were filthy, and we ended up cleaning everything ourselves. The freezer was still frozen, leaking water, and had food scraps inside. There were old coffee grounds in the coffee maker, dirty cupboards, broken and cracked plates, food in the microwave, a moldy dish rack, and a toothbrush holder covered in grime. The shower had mold and sand left by the previous guests, and the tray leaked. There were no extra rolls of toilet paper. The windows in the rooms were dirty, and the dining room AC filter looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Clothes and sheets were hanging to dry on the balcony, and the dishcloths had bits of food stuck to them. Even the sofa bed was unusable as a seat, it was so uncomfortable. It had no slats, and once we felt something puncture us. When we lifted the cushion, there was a hanger inside.

One of the bedroom doors couldn’t be opened from the inside, and the sofa was too uncomfortable to sit on, let alone use as a bed, because its slats were missing. The apartment looked nothing like the photos. I absolutely don’t recommend this place. It was disgusting rather than just dirty. The kitchen grime clearly hadn’t built up in one day: the microwave and oven had food scraps, the cupboards and dish rack were filthy, and the coffee filter was full of grounds. Plates were cracked or broken, the toaster was rusty with bread bits in it, and so was the washing machine. In the bathroom, the toothbrush holder and toilet brush were dirty, there was sand in the shower, and no extra toilet paper.

The apartment looked lovely when we walked in, but the trouble started when we tried the oven, heating, and shower. None of them worked. In the apartment we were given, there wasn’t even hot water, and nobody answered when we called. At night it felt less like an apartment and more like Elsa’s castle.
