Hotel California Palace

The pool area was lovely and calm, with plenty of sunbeds. Nobody puts towels down to reserve them, so there’s no need for an early morning dash. It’s a nice place to sit, chill, read and enjoy the sun. The staff were friendly, and the rooms were lovely. The hotel is a little way from the crowds and rowdy pubs, which suits anyone who wants a quiet evening.

We spent 4 nights and 5 days here. The hotel is beautiful and has a lovely pool, and our room was lovely with a balcony. It’s a bit of a trek to the beach and strip. Breakfast wasn’t nice, so we went out for a lovely, reasonably priced meal instead. The woman at the desk when we went in for breakfast was so rude and needs to learn some manners. There was no kettle, cups or anything like that in the room. I don’t think I’d go back.

The hotel was fairly priced and suited our needs. Dining has improved a lot since last year, and the staff are pleasant and work hard. The only thing we’d suggest is adding another coffee machine.

I spent 10 nights half board at the Hotel California Palace from late August to early September 2025 and genuinely had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast and dinner both had good flavor and plenty of variety. It’s Spain, so expect some Spanish dishes on the menu. Most evenings I walked toward the strip along Passeig de Jaume l and then Carrer de Carles Buïgas. It gets busier the farther up you go, and it’s fun to browse the shops and go with the flow. Carrer de Barcelona is also nice for shopping. The walk takes about half an hour and is good for your step count, or a taxi to the far end of the strip is about €8. Across the road from California Palace there’s a 24-hour supermarket, handy if you run out of something urgently. I had no trouble getting a sun lounger by the pool each morning. Towels can be rented at reception for €10 each, refundable any time. The room safe was pricey at €25 for a week, then a fiver per day, plus a refundable €10 deposit. In my case, that meant an immediate shell-out of €50 at check-in because I wanted a safe. Ouch! Apart from that, I can’t fault the place. I’d return if I got the chance. When I checked out, they told me I could never leave 😊
