Hotel Salou Beach

A great little hotel and a cheap base. There isn't an outdoor bar or music, and there's nothing for kids, so I'd say it's better suited to couples or solo travellers.

We booked a Quadruple Room for four of us, including our one-year-old. You're right on the strip and close to the beach. The room was gorgeous and spacious, with a massive balcony. For a group of four, there's a big bed plus a separate room with two single beds. The hotel staff were lovely. The only downside is that it's not all inclusive, but I'd definitely go again.

The location is brilliant, with an arcade right across from the hotel, lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the beach about 10 minutes away. We had a pool-view room, which was lucky because I worried the strip-facing side might be noisy. It was very quiet. We were offered early check-in for 25 euro and took it after getting up early that morning. Rooms were spacious and cleaned daily, and the beds were really comfortable with enough pillows. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, but the coffee was really nice. There were a few drawbacks. There's no mini fridge, so drinks and snacks get warm in the room. The safe costs 4 euro a day, and kettles or coffee makers cost extra. The pool is really small, though it wasn't busy and getting a sunbed was easy. The sunbeds were so uncomfortable that we had to move after about 40 minutes. The floor was very dirty and left our feet mucky. I only saw the cleaners mop the bathroom floor, so they could really do with mopping the other floors daily too. You also have to ask the cleaners for a “do not disturb” sign, which seemed odd. I've never stayed somewhere without one already in the room. I just got back from a 7-night stay and would recommend the hotel. It was really nice overall, with friendly staff and a brilliant location. Mini fridges in the rooms would make it perfect.

The pool area is on the small side, but it was peaceful and we never struggled to find a sunbed. We ate at the pool bar too, and really liked the food. Our room faced the pool, so nights were quiet; I imagine a room facing the strip could be noisier. The room itself was lovely and the hotel was spotless. Everything is close by, just a short walk away. We had such a good trip that we're already looking forward to coming back.
