Hotel Jaime I

The main reason we chose this hotel was the water slides, but they wouldn’t let my daughter use them because she was 1.23m and the minimum was 1.25m. I think that’s a shame. Other aqua-parks and hotels have different height grades, or let an adult accompany a child, but this hotel didn’t seem to care about visitors. My wife and I didn’t even try the slides after that, and we won’t come back even when our daughter is over 1.25m. People smoke by the pool and in other areas, and the guards don’t do anything. It’s a family hotel with lots of little kids who have to breathe that awful smoke. Towels are put on sunbeds early in the morning to reserve them, then people leave, so you can’t find a free one during the day. Music from the stage is very loud at night and goes on until midnight, while the rooms have poor sound insulation. Staff don’t speak English, even though this is an international hotel in the EU. The pool water was too cold on several days. We visited at the end of August 2025. It felt like they cared about making money, not looking after guests.

We’ve just come back from a week in Salou, our fourth year going at Easter and our third stay at Jamie 1. This time they put us in the Miro building across from the main hotel, which was a disaster from the start with two young kids. There are two bars on the road beside Miro that stay open until 4:30am, so ask for a room in the main building. The hotel is still a good family spot, but it’s always busy, especially at breakfast, and you’ll queue for everything. Check-in is painfully slow too, so pack some patience.

In July 2025, we found the hotel itself good for kids, with pools, a small waterpark and a very good location. The problem was how overcrowded it was, and the hotel didn’t seem prepared for the number of guests. We waited 2.5 hours to check in with four young kids, and there were huge queues whenever we wanted drinks or food. The restaurants were chaotic from the crowds, and the food wasn’t as good as at other all-inclusive holidays we’ve taken. If we return to Salou, we definitely won’t stay here again.

The reception staff were quite helpful and the rooms were cleaned every day. We had plenty of sunbeds available whenever we went. Food was okay, but it never seemed very hot, whatever time we went down. Bar service was very slow, maybe mostly because of the language barrier. The hotel is nice and well located, and all in all we had a pleasant stay.
