La Siesta Salou Resort & Camping

The resort grounds look tropical, with lovely plants, and the pools are cool, though very cold. Half the area smells of damp and mold. Our trailer caravan room was awful, like sleeping in a wardrobe, with flimsy walls and thin doors. We had to pay for sheets and towels, clean the room ourselves, and mop the floor. There’s one heated pool, but it wasn’t usable. The indoor half felt like a chlorine sauna, and the small outdoor side had murky, cloudy water. The filters didn’t seem to be cleaning it properly, and they charged €4 for a cap just to swim there. The complex is nice, but if you’re staying at the far end, it’s a long walk to the exit each time. Staff were blunt, unprofessional, and not very nice.

Twelve of us stayed for a week, and it was an ideal family beach holiday. The beach and main part of town are close by. The pools and facilities were excellent, the site was spotlessly clean, and there was plenty to do throughout the day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a brilliant time and couldn’t recommend it more.

We’re staying in the Aruba section. It’s a camping holiday, so keep in mind this isn’t a four- or five-star all-inclusive resort. The space is small but laid out well, so it still feels roomy for the two of us. This place is meant for at least four, though, and would feel very cramped with more people. There are a few minor faults. When we went to reception, they seemed bothered, so now we feel uncomfortable bringing up the others. The shower-head holder is very loose and might fall off, and the AC unit looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in at least a month. There’s a heated pool, and it’s not too bad, though the loungers need moving around a lot to stay in the sun. They also go all out for the time of year, October and Halloween. The shop staff are very friendly and attentive, and made us feel welcome. Maite was especially lovely. Prices there are very good compared with outside the campsite. I won’t book here again because it isn’t for me, though it might suit you. Check more reviews before booking.

There was plenty to do for everyone, from babies to teenagers and adults, with lots of pools and slides. It felt safe, stayed quiet at night, and was spotless. The staff were really friendly and helpful, too. The resort is an easy walk from town, the beach and a supermarket, so we never needed a taxi. A beautiful family holiday spot, 10/10, highly recommend!
